today (and every day) i am thankful for the greatness of people like martin luther king, jr., who was incredibly strong, intelligent, courageous, and kind, among so many other things. the fact that a man like him ever existed is enough to give me faith in the human race.
his principles and tactics were enough to inspire so much change in our nation - i am proud of how far we have come and at the same time saddened by the undeniable fact that we have not come so far at all. there is still so much injustice in the world, so much violence, so much negativity, that at times it is overwhelming. i just try to remember that all i can do as one person is be the change i wish to see in the world (thank you, gandhi). then i try to be just that.
